Your plumber is correct. Electronic systems break much sooner than standard mechanical systems. The added frustration from the electronic controls do not offset the amount of salt you save from these electronic systems. I sell and install water treatment and the water boss is a system I routinely remove for customers when it is only 2 or 3 years old. I can be pretty sure your plumber's system will cost a little more, but: 1) He knows how to fix it while nobody has parts to fix those water boss systems. 2)If serviced properly, the system he wants you to get will last much longer - maybe even 20 years. 3)If you buy the water boss, you will still need to pay your plumber to install it.
